After the first mid-week off since the opening week of fixtures, we are back in action against fellow Cheshire club Macclesfield Town at the Alexandra Stadium. The Silkmen have started the season slowly with defeats against Swindon Town, Grimsby Town and Oldham Athletic before back-to-back home 1-1 draws against Cheltenham Town and Mansfield Town, our visitors next week in the league. Macc have had better fortunes in the EFL Cup though having knocked out League 1 clubs Bradford City and Walsall, both on penalties.

Looking back in the archives, the two teams have met 10 times with the Alex leading the head-to-head with 5 wins to 3 with 2 draws. Macclesfield’s biggest win came at the Moss Rose as they won 4-1 in December 2009 whilst the Alex’s biggest win came in September 2008 with a 3-0 victory at the Alexandra Stadium in the EFL Trophy. The last season that the clubs met in the league saw Macclesfield win 1-0 at the Alexandra Stadium before a 2-2 draw at the Moss Rose.
