This afternoon sees Crewe Alexandra host Championship side Barnsley in the FA Cup 3rd Round with both sides looking to get into tomorrow evening’s 4th Round draw. Looking back in the archives, the two teams have met 65 times in the past with Barnsley leading the head-to-head with 26 wins to 14 with 15 draws. Barnsley’s biggest win came in December 1932 with a 7-1 win at Oakwell with the Alex’s biggest win coming in August 2008 by a 2-0 scoreline at the Alexandra Stadium. The clubs have met in the FA Cup before with Barnsley winning both ties, first by 4-0 in January 1906 after a replay before winning 6-1 21 years later (both wins in Yorkshire).
