29-year old Mali international Abdoulai Demba is on trial at Crewe, joining an ever-increasing list of trialists. The 6’2 striker was recommended to the club by one of Glyn Chamberlain’s contacts and it is believed that he is better than what we have already got in that department.

Demba scored 5 goals for Ethnikos Asteras last season in Greece’s second division, as they finished 11th out of 16 teams. Demba has also played for KV Oostende, VC Eendracht Aalst and for El Khalij in the United Arab Emirates. However, Demba also had a brief spell with Yeovil in the 02/03 season, with his 7 goals helping to secure Yeovil’s promotion to the Football League. However, on that occasion the striker had problems settling and subsequently looked to continue his career elsewhere.

Demba is close friends with Stoke’s Mamady Sidibe and Liverpool’s Momo Sissoko, which should help the striker to settle in should his trial period prove successful. Demba is expected to feature in some of the early friendlies next week.
