Crewe Alexandra have announced that midfielder Joe White has joined the club on loan until January from Premier League club Newcastle United, becoming the seventh signing of the summer.
White, 20, has come through the youth system of the Magpies, having spent time on loan at both Hartlepool United and Exeter City in the second half of the last couple of seasons as well as representing Newcastle in the EFL Trophy over the last four seasons and has played the last couple of Premier League 2 fixtures against Tottenham and Reading having missed the opener against Southampton.
White has represented England at Under-18 3 times in 2019.
What will he offer?
He is a left-footed playmaker who, at minimum, adds a bit of competition for the midfield roles at the Alex (whether that be in one of the deeper midfield roles in either the 4-3-3 or 5-3-2/3-5-2 or even potentially as a #10 in the 4-2-3-1 depending on what system Lee Bell uses going forward).
