Magilton Confirms Maynard Interest

Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton has confirmed that he has spoken to Nicky Maynard’s agent. However, no offer has been made after it is understood that Magilton was put off by the Alex’s price tag on the striker.

Whilst it seems only a matter of time before Maynard departs Gresty Road, there does seem to be a reluctance from interested parties, that also include Bristol City and Cardiff, to cough up the £2million plus that Steve Holland and Dario Gradi are looking for.

Jim Magilton won’t, however, rule out a future bid. Speaking to the East Anglian Times, Magilton said he would like to see Maynard as an Ipswich player should the opportunity arise.

Magilton said: “Nicky Maynard is a very good player and we have had a conversation with his agent but he is under contact at Crewe. If there was an opportunity to take Nicky to our football club I would take it.

“At the minute he is one of many targets and we have not made a firm offer as yet.”
