Vital Crewe would like to pass on our condolences to the family of Keith Alexander, Macclesfield Town manager, who died last night.

Alexander died at his home after returning from his side’s game at Notts County last night.

He had previously managed Lincoln City to several League Two play-off campaigns and Peterborough for a short stint before a brief stint as Director of Football at Bury in 2007. Alexander was named Macclesfield Town boss in February 2008.

Alexander only ever led three sides against the Alex and it was largely a successful record. He masterminded the ‘shock’ 5-1 defeat at Lincoln in 2005 in the Carling Cup before this season’s 4-1 win for Macclesfield at Moss Rose in December. He was also manager as the Alex were 2-1 winners against Macclesfield back in October at Gresty Road.

Alexander is sure to be missed in the game and all our thoughts go out to his family and those that knew him. Rest in peace.
