A hat-trick from Aaron Lomas saw Crewe Alexandra defeat Sheffield United at the Proact Stadium in the Under-23 Professional Development League match last night.
With the trip to Macclesfield Town tonight, manager Alex Morris was named Sam Booth in goal with a back 3 of captain Josh Lundstram, Billy Sass-Davies and Jack Goodrich, a midfield 5 from right-to-left of Abdul Djalo, Luke Offord, Joe Robbins, Regan Griffiths and Nathan Woodthorpe while Tyreece Onyeka partnered Lomas up front. On the bench were goalkeeper Andy Waitlake, Ethan Hartshorn, Daniel Lokko, Jakob Priestman and Jamie Wrench.
The hosts took the lead on 7 minutes with David Parkhouse turning in a cross from Reece York before Lomas levelled the score with an effort from the edge of the area which beat Jordan Amissah before Lomas scored his second minutes later as a through-ball found the forward to beat Amissah.
Into the second period with Lomas rounding Amissah to complete his treble before York pulled a goal back a minute later with the Alex holding on despite late pressure from the hosts.
The next couple of games are a home game against Bolton Wanderers on Monday afternoon at Reaseheath before a Cheshire Senior Cup game at Nantwich Town against Tranmere Rovers a couple of nights later.
