Lewington Back in the Frame?

Dario Gradi is believed to still be considering Dean Lewington as a candidate for Crewe’s left back position next season. Crewe have watched the MK Dons’ player-of-the-season on various occasions this season, though the scouts are believed to have been unimpressed on several of the visits, either because they considered Lewington to be slightly poor positionally, not quick enough or just not good enough on the whole. However, should Dario Gradi decide he wants to pursue the 21-year old, he may face competition for his signature. It is rumoured that Lewington has attracted the interest of several Championship clubs, such as Norwich and Plymouth.

Dario Gradi has said that Darren Moss is a candidate for the left back role, after Anthony Tonkin was released. Billy Jones impressed at left back, though the role is highly unlikely to be the one in which the youngster is able to develop. Meanwhile, Dario Gradi and Neil Baker will be present at the various League One and Two play-offs this week.
