Crewe Alexandra remain in trouble towards the bottom of the table with a 3-0 defeat at runaway leaders Bristol City.

Aaron Wilbraham earned the hosts the lead and Aden Flint headed another prior to the break before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas added a late third.

Home skipper Wilbraham volleyed his seventeenth goal of the campaign from Luke Ayling’s delivery to open the scoring just beyond the half-hour.

Ten minutes later defender Flint met Marlon Pack’s corner to double the advantage from a header.

At least the Robins had to wait until late into the game for their third goal as Emmanuel-Thomas evaded attention inside the area and went round goalkeeper Paul Rachubka.

Rachubka had already kept his side in the contest with decent saves from Wilbraham, Greg Cunningham and Luke Freeman before blocking again from the former in added time.

The Alex’s threat was in contrast limited throughout with Marcus Haber trying a couple of headers and Jamie Ness sending two long-range efforts over.
