Dennis Lawrence has revealed his anger after being snubbed by Gudjon Thordarson.

The former Swansea defender was keen to sign a permanent deal at Gresty Road after enjoying his loan spell at the club last season. The transfer was expected to be a formality once Lawrence was released after his contract at Swansea had expired.

Yesterday however Gudjon revealed that Lawrence wouldn’t be signing after failing to agree to Lawrence’s contract demands.

Lawrence told The Sentinel that he wasn’t being greedy and that he had not heard from Gudjon in recent days:

‘I am very disappointed to hear they no longer want me. It’s important people understand I wasn’t trying to be greedy.

‘I’ve not heard a word from the manager since he offered me the captaincy and involved me in his planning for next season. If that is the sort of man he is, then perhaps he has done me a favour.’

Gudjon meanwhile confirmed he is looking elsewhere for defensive cover, with a host of trialists set to arrive over the coming days – some of whom could play in the opening friendly at Newcastle Town tomorrow.
