Crewe Alexandra fell to a late winner after coming back from two-goals down against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

The Blades were comfortably ahead with just over an hour played following efforts from Che Adams and Ryan Flynn.

But midfielder David Fox struck from distance to reduce the deficit and skipper Harry Davis equalised inside the final ten minutes.

However, Billy Sharp restored the home lead five minutes later, to dump the visitors back to the bottom of the table.

Goalkeeper Ben Garratt had denied John Brayford early on and Sharp curled onto an upright before Flynn allowed Adams to open the scoring on eighteen minutes.

Charlie Kirk called George Long into action following the break but the visitors slipped further into arrears as Flynn hooked in.

The Alex responded in positive fashion and King’s low 20-yard drive found the bottom corner of the net seven minutes later.

And they were back level when centre-back Davis swept home substitute Callum Ainley’s 82nd minute delivery.

That was until Sharp headed in at close-range to finally settle the contest from substitute Louis Reed’s cross towards the other end.
