Brighton’s Dutch goalkeeper Michel Kuipers was flattered by Crewe’s efforts to sign him before the transfer deadline. The 31-year old said Crewe’s interest was ‘a great compliment’, having seen his opportunities increasingly limited recently due to the form of Wayne Henderson.

Henderson also revealed his admiration for Crewe manager Dario Gradi, ‘Dario Gradi is a very good manager, probably the longest serving manager in the Football League, so if he wants to sign you I can only be pleased about that.’
