Several Championship clubs are reported to be interested in signing Crewe’s out of contract captain Kenny Lunt. Lunt has been in inspired form during the second half of the season, finishing the season with one of the highest tally of assists in the division. Southampton are believed to be most interested in Crewe’s longest serving player, with Saints’ boss George Burley reported to have watched Lunty on several occasions. Stoke, Norwich, Ipswich and Burnley have also been credited with an interest in Lunt. Dario is always understanding of his players’ needs to move on, and is often keen for them to try to better themselves, though on this occasion Dario is hoping that his playmaker will remain at the club.

Lunt is another of Dario’s academy graduates and spent time playing alongside the likes of Michael Owen as a youngster at Lilleshall. Lunt has bagged 35 goals in 406 games from midfield, though his assists have been invaluable to Crewe in recent years. Lunt nearly moved to Leeds last summer after signing a new deal so that the club could try to get a fee for him. However, Leeds were only willing to take Lunt on a free transfer meaning that a move never materialised.
