Crewe Alexandra’s versatile performer Kelvin Mellor should be ready for the new season following a minor operation on his ankle.

The 21-year-old has already been offered new terms after eventually forcing his way into contention and finishing the campaign in style with a Wembley appearances in the play-off final against Cheltenham Town.

“Kelvin has had a minor operation on his ankle,” manager Steve Davis confirmed to Alex’s official website. “It has improved his movement in the joint and he is fine. He is making good progress and we are sure he will be fit for the start of the season.”

Mellor played in seventeen games last term and netted once after originally joining the club from local outfit Nantwich Town.
