Goalkeeper Steve Phillips believes manager Steve Davis to be a real expert in the loan market after this season discovering the likes of striker Lauri Dalla Valle.

“The loan signings have fitted into the team perfectly well” – Steve Phillips

The 21-year-old has scored five times since being recruited from Premier League outfit Fulham in November as appropriate cover for the sidelined AJ Leitch-Smith – who is now happily back in contention.

However, Dalla Valle’s current deal comes to an end following the weekend visit of Stevenage and a decision must be reached over whether there should be any attempt to extend it.

“Steve Davis is still relatively inexperienced as a manager I guess, but him and assistant Neil Baker together have really got something,” Phillips told This is Staffordshire. “The loan signings have been brought in when we’ve needed them and have fitted into the team perfectly well.”
