Goalkeeper Alan Martin looks set to be given early opportunties to prove his credentials at Crewe Alexandra.

The Scot recently signed a six-month deal at Gresty Road after being told to push his claims for regular inclusion ahead of first-choice and new goalkeeping coach Steve Phillips.

As it turns out the vastly experienced Phillips is currently out of action, which has immediately earned the 23-year-old former Leeds United shot-stopper some welcome pre-season action.

“Steve has a slight knock at the moment and we are unsure how long he could be out for,” confirmed assistant manager Neil Baker to Alex’s official website. “So Alan has every opportunity at the moment to push his claim.”
