Crewe Alexandra could be about to lose their new on loan goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

“If he is ruled and his loan deal had to come to a premature end then that would be a blow” – Steve Davis

The 23-year-old suffered a thigh problem and possible quad muscle strain when clearing late on in the weekend 1-0 victory against Crawley Town.

Etheridge has so far made three appearances since arriving on loan from Fulham last month.

“We are waiting for the scan results but if he has suffered that type of injury it could be 3-5 weeks maximum. We will know more today,” manager Steve Davis told Crewe’s official website. “We will have to see but if he is ruled and his loan deal had to come to a premature end then that would be a blow for us, because he was playing well and improving with every appearance.”
