Manager Steve Davis has quoted the example of Stevenage as he continues to prepare for life in League One.

Alex finished the season with a tremendous nineteen-game unbeaten run to leave Davis backing them for another play-off challenge next term.

He understandably cites the case of Stevenage, who did just that following their promotion to the higher grade – only losing out narrowly in the play-offs.

“That excitement, momentum and expectation we’ve built mustn’t die and we have to keep it going,” Davis told the Crewe Chronicle. “Look at Stevenage, they got promoted and then were in the play-offs again, just from the belief they had instilled in them and all the players believed they could continue with what they were doing.

“I want us to believe we’re good enough and can more than cope with this division,” he stressed.
