Dario Gradi has stated that he would have kept striker Rodney Jack had he had the spare cash.

As mentioned previously, the club announced that Jack, who rejoined the club from Waterford United in 2006 chipped in with 3 goals in 21 starts and 10 substitute appearances. It was Jack`s goal that sent Crewe into the third round of the Carling Cup that saw the Railwaymen crash out to a late extra-time winner at the hands of a youthful Manchester United side. The television fees and gate receipts from facing the now Premiership Champions practically paying for Jack`s year-long contract according to the club.

Dario spoke to the official website, stating his desire to keep Jack training with Crewe for as long as he needs it as he begins his summer search for a new club:

‘Rodney can train with us until he gets fixed up somewhere else. If the budget could have stretched a little bit further then I would have offered him something but we really need to be looking at giving Shaun (Miller) even more of a chance.
‘I would not hesitate to have signed him and have him as cover for the younger ones. We know he has ability and he could have played a dozen games or so, but to be fair he needs to be playing regularly.”
