Paul Green Signs Contract Extension

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that midfielder Paul Green has extended his contract with the club that was set to expire this summer. He is the first of the out-of-contract players to sign an extension this summer.

Green, who turned 36 last month, joined the Alex initially on loan in January 2018 from Oldham Athletic before making the move permanent after his Latics contract expired last summer has signed a deal that will see him stay with the Alex for another season.

He started his career with Doncaster Rovers before also playing for Derby County, Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Rotherham United in his club career whilst he made 22 appearances for the Republic of Ireland at the start of the decade.

What will we get from Green next season?

Hopefully more of the same from the experienced box-to-box player. His energetic game allows Ryan Wintle to sit in and protect the back 4 and either James Jones or Tom Lowery to dictate the play with their passing game.

Depending on what he wants to do after he finishes playing, it might be worth looking at getting him involved with coaching the younger players as his experience of playing at a higher level and internationally would benefit the youngsters.
