International Appearances – March 2023

|

In this column, we look at the international appearances of professionals James Beadle and Connor O’Riordan as well as scholars Calum Agius and Max Woodcock who represented England Under-19s, the Republic of Ireland Under-21s, Wales Under-18s and Scotland Under-18s respectively.

Goalkeeper Beadle would add to his 3 caps for the England U19s by playing the full game in the 2-1 win against Hungary at the Bescot Stadium last Wednesday before also playing the full game in the 1-0 defeat against Iceland at the New York Stadium on Saturday and also played the full game against Turkey at Chesterfield tonight – unfortunately for Simon Rusk’s side, that Iceland result saw them England finish 2nd in the Elite qualifying group with only the top team advancing to the tournament finals in Malta during the summer.

Defender O’Riordan was named in the squad but was not involved in their 2-1 win over Iceland on Sunday

Midfielder Agius would play the final 35 minutes for Wales U18 in their 2-1 win against Scotland U18 on Thursday before playing the first 55 mins in their 2-2 draw against the same opposition on Sunday.

Forward Woodcock would play for Scotland in the above games, playing the final 15 mins in Thursday’s game before playing the first 78 mins in Sunday’s game.
