Dario has confirmed that League Two rivals Bradford City and Crawley Town are both in the race to sign the Football League’s top scorer Clayton Donaldson this summer but are Championship clubs ready to pounce?

As we know, Donaldson’s contract is up for renewal this summer but, despite being offered a tempting deal at Gresty Road, which would see him pocket a percentage of his future transfer fee, Clayton’s future looks very much to be away from the Alex.

Crawley boss Steve Evans has already made public his desire to take Donaldson down to Sussex and with the spending power of the Red Devils you’d have to say they have every chance.

Dario today though added that Donaldson’s hometown club Bradford City have also made their interest known. Speculation around a move to Bradford has intensified in recent days with some fans in Yorkshire convinced it’s a done deal.

Bradford boss Peter Jackson remained coy on the rumours during an interview this week whilst Donaldson has made no secret of his love for the club he supported as a boy, despite being released from the youth system at the Bantams at a early age.

However, they will face stiff competition with Championship clubs, including Coventry City, apparently set to swoop for the 29 goal striker.

You’d have to say a chance to play in the Championship, on a significantly better wages with a significantly better signing on fee, is likely to be jumped at by ClayDo.

With the 27 year old currently on holiday though it is all a matter of ‘wait and see’. It looks as if no decision on his future is imminent and having what looks to be half the Football League queuing up to talk to him there is certainly no rush for him to tie up a deal just yet.
