Crewe look set to be without loanees David Gray and Cedric Baseya for the trip to Hartlepool. They have both return to their respective clubs to receive treatment.

Baseya, whose loan from Southampton runs out at the weekend, has picked up a groin/back injury just as it looked as if he’d get a chance to impress in Saturday’s game. The French striker though will return to Southampton whilst the Alex mull over a possible extension.

His fellow loanee team mate David Gray also looks set to sit out the rest of his loan spell here. The Man Utd full back has picked up an ankle injury that could see him out of action for up to three weeks.

Dario has already hinted that he would like to extend Gray’s stay, saying: ‘David is a proper player and is very strong mentally and physically. He is the type of player you don’t have to worry about if you have to put him in.’

Meanwhile, right-back George Abbey has stepped up his return. Abbey has been out of action for nearly six weeks but is finally back on the training ground doing some light training.
