I am pleased with a point

Steve Holland told the awaiting press that he was pleased with a point at Northampton.

The first team coach saw his team come close to santching all three points on a couple of occassions but in the end had to settle for a point and a clean sheet.

Holland told the official site, crewealex.net and Radio Stoke: ‘I am pleased with a point. That is not to say we didn’t want three points and went out this afternoon trying to win the game because we did and I thought we created enough chances to score.

‘Northampton are on a great run and they are a side who put you under a lot of pressure and put the ball into the box. I thought we stood up to them well and Ben Williams has made some fine saves. Like all goalkeepers he can make mistakes, but in that position it is often highlighted more than anyone else.’

The bad news however is that Nicky Maynard went off early with a hamstring complaint. It now looks like the star striker will have a spell on the sidelines, adding to Holland’s problems up front.

Holland said:’We’ll just have to see how he is. It certainly won’t help us, because we have looked short of scoring some goals recently.

‘It is not a good sign for a player like Nicky picking up an injury at this stage of the season. It is a concern and probably means we are even more determined to bring in another striker. All we can do is to keep trying.’
