Crewe Alexandra moved off the bottom of the table with a 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Fleetwood Town at Gresty Road.

Experienced striker Ryan Lowe fired low to open their account after only five minutes when a ball deflected favourably off team-mate Marcus Haber.

However, David Ball swiftly equalised from Jimmy Ryan’s assist as goalkeeper Ben Garratt could only help his long-ranger into the net.

Veteran goalscorer Lowe also went close to another while Billy Bingham was twice stopped by Fleetwood keeper Chris Maxwell.

But Eggert Jonsson struck the woodwork for the visitors after the break and Garratt reacted well to deny Ball a second goal.

Fleetwood’s David Henen then might have done better when breaking away and shooting wide in added time.
