Crewe Alexandra’s on loan striker Uche Ikpeazu struck a brace on his full senior debut but Bradford City twice came from behind at Valley Parade.

The Watford youngster gave the visitors an early lead and added his second of the contest nine minutes into the second-half.

But James Hanson and Gary Jones replied within a minute of each other, and although Mathias Pogba restored the Alex’s earlier advantage the inspirational Jones cancelled it out six minutes from time.

Veteran midfielder Jones had already gone close with an early shot deflected wide after Chuks Aneke couldn’t direct a header on target.

The visitors still went in front on twelve minutes when Ikpeazu chased onto a forward ball and expertly chipped over goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin.

Alex’s Harry Davis and Pogba were both then wide of the mark while Kyle Bennett and on loan Adam Reach were similarly wayward.

Bradford were first to threaten following the break when Ben Garratt had to turn away Hanson’s header and Davis produced a couple of vital blocks.

Hanson next struck wide as the hosts continued to chase an equaliser, but it was Ikpeazu soon adding his second after McLaughlin had parried from Aneke following Brad Inman’s break.

Andrew Davies replied by heading over from a corner before recent signing Aaron McLean crossed for Hanson to pull a goal back from close-range.

And sixty seconds later Jones drilled in a fine equaliser from the edge of the area to completely stun the visitors.

Hanson might then have had another when wastefully hoisting over before Aneke allowed Pogba to reclaim the lead by finishing across goal.

However, Jones levelled again with a low drive while Aneke forced a decent stop from McLaughlin and opposite number Garratt superbly denied Hanson’s late header.
