Offord Signs New Deal

|

Crewe Alexandra have announced that defender Luke Offord has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2023, his previous one was set to expire at the end of the season (although the club had an option of extending it by 2 years).

Offord, who turns 21 later in the week, spent time on loan at Witton Albion during the final months of the 18/19 season and a month at Nantwich Town around the Xmas Period last year before making his first-team debut for the Alex in January this year against Leyton Orient, playing every league game since.

What does this mean going forward?

Not a lot as far as the length of the deal is concerned as the club would have extended the deal before the summer anyway but it rewards him with a wage that I imagine would be more in line with a first-team regular with the club.

He has moved from a back-up player to arguably the best centre-back at the club in the past year and shows a maturity to his game that usually comes much later in a player’s development.
