Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis wants an improvement in home form ahead of Shrewsbury Town arriving at Gresty Road on Saturday.

“We’ll keep fighting to get as near to that top six as possible” – Steve Davis

The Alex have lost their last three games in front of their own supporters against Portsmouth, Coventry City and Bournemouth.

“Our home form has slipped recently and we’ve lost three in succession so we need to put that right,” Davis told the Crewe Guardian. “In fairness before the dip we were playing well at home or getting good results.”

Meanwhile, with meetings against five of the current top six still to come, Davis wasn’t yet giving up on the play-offs. Promotion hopefuls Brentford (H), Doncaster Rovers (H), Swindon Town (A), Yeovil Town (A) and Sheffield United (H) immediately follow the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final against Southend United at Wembley early next month.

“We can have a big say on our own destiny and for other teams around the play-offs,” he added. “While there are points to be had, we’ll keep fighting to get as near to that top six as possible.”
