It is something Holland said he didn’t want to do this season but after torrid start to the season Steve Holland is to look at strengthening the squad with a couple of loan players.
Last season Holland had more than his fair share of loan players as the club paid big bucks in wages to try and keep the club out of League Two. Whether it was the loan players or not the club got their wish, surviving by the biggest one point in the club’s history.
In the summer Holland insisted it wasn’t a route he wanted to go down again and having spent £800,000 on new players pre-season, it certainly isn’t a route any of us were expecting him to go down after just 12 games of the season.
However, being rock bottom of League One has forced his hand and we can now expect a raft of nearly-men and almost-nearly-men in Holland’s attempts to prove himself as a manager.
Speaking to CreweAlex.net Holland said:
‘On Saturday, I wasn’t too worried about loan players, but after last night, it could have been every area of the field that I was looking at. I have to say that. We didn’t look dangerous, the midfield didn’t show the control they did on Saturday, and we didn’t look as stable defensively.
‘From one week to the next you never know what you are going to get and that is why we are where we are.’
Why have we heard this all before? Maybe the players aren’t the problem, Stevie?
