Holland Relieved

Holland’s relief at last night’s win is evident as he rebuffs rumours of unrest behind the scenes.

The 1-0 win over Orient last night was the first away win since November and managed to drag the club away from the relegation zone, and there was no-one more pleased to see the three points on the board than first team coach Steve Holland.

Holland has come under a tremendous amount of pressure since taking on first team duties but still dedicated the win to the 188 Alex fans who made the long trip down to the east end of London.

Holland told superalex.co.uk: ‘I’m pleased for everybody, particularly the away support. They have been outstanding this season and they have had little to cheer about.’

Holland went on to rebuff rumours of unrest behind the scenes. Since the summer transition, with Dario taking a back seat and Holland taking over first team affairs, rumours of all not being right have long run on. From Dario refusing to speak to Holland to Holland having no say in team selection, the rumours are endless, but Holland believes there isn’t a problem…

‘None of us have enjoyed the criticism and it was an unpleasant experience in the second half on Saturday. But the football club is still special.

‘Despite what many think, the change with respect to myself and Dario has gone perfectly as far as I’m concerned.’

Meanwhile, Holland was delighted to have captured Ipswich winger Gary Roberts on a month’s loan. The deal was completed whilst the team were travelling down to London on Tuesday afternoon and Holland wasted no time in getting Roberts into a red shirt;

‘He wanted to come down and watch the game – but I told him to bring his boots. I’ve not spoken money to him at all, he just wanted to know whether he would be playing on the left or off the front.’
