Michael Higdon has questioned Crewe’s fitness regime after losing a stone at his new club Falkirk.
‘The Don’ made his SPL debut in Scotland yesterday, scoring 2 in his first 30 minutes as Falkirk ran out 4-0 winners at Gretna. Higdon, who spent 12 years at the Alex coming through the academy, says it’s down to Falkirk’s fitness regime – claiming Crewe didn’t take as much notice of his fitness.
He told the Sunday Mail in Scotland: ‘I’m down a stone and there’s still more to come off – around my chin especially!
‘But this tells me that I’ve never really felt fit in my career before now. It’s been a combination of exercise and diet but I now feel more professional about being a player.
‘My previous club didn’t focus on that at all but it’s been good for me.
‘Now I just need to score goals to progress and I’ll be happy with that every week.’
Higdon is set to play against reigning SPL champions Glasgow Celtic next Saturday.
