As announced on the official site earlier today Jon Guthrie has left the club after rejecting the chance to sign a new deal as his current deal runs out this summer.

Guthrie, 24, signed for the Alex from Wiltshire non-league club Pewsey Vale in February 2012 and made over 100 league appearances for the club after making his debut at home to Swindon in October 2012 having spent a loan spell at Leek earlier that year.

Manager David Artell, who gave Guthrie a deadline of yesterday to make a decision, told the following:
I had a conversation with Jon and he told me that he wanted to leave, which was fine. We had a good chat and I am disappointed that he is leaving because I wanted him to re-sign with us.

We are disappointed that he is going. He said he has a League One club prepared to sign him, so all we can do is wish him well.

There has been no news so far on Oliver Turton who was having contract talks with the club after having the same deadline as Guthrie.
