Torquay United are understood to have tabled a bid of in the region of £40,000 for Crewe Alexandra target Billy Bodin.

The Wales Under-21 international enjoyed successful loan spells at both clubs last season after falling out of favour at Swindon Town.

He has since been advised by manager Paulo Di Canio that he can leave the County Ground after five goals in nineteen appearances last season.

The Gulls have already raised around £400,000 in transfer deals over the summer following the sales of Austrian goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik to Peterborough United and centre-back Mark Ellis to Crewe.
