Gudjon Thordarson has cooled his interest in centre back Dennis Lawrence but the former Swansea player appears to be stalling any possible deal.

Having almost made a ‘come and get me’ plea in The Sentinel not so long ago it seemed liked the ball was in Gudjon’s court, but not so. Today Gudjon has said that he will be looking elsewhere for defensive options having failed to agree terms with Lawrence.

Lawrence is current unattached having been released by Swansea this summer. A move to Gresty Road was fully expected following his successful loan spell throughout last season where he played 29 games in red.

Having already completed the signing of Patrick Ada this summer, the capture of Dennis Lawrence would have pretty much completed Gudjon’s back line for next season. Speaking to CreweAlex.net however, Gudjon says he’s turned his sights elsewhere.

We had discussed the idea of maybe signing Dennis early on in the summer, but that doesn’t appear viable. We have now moved on from that and I’ve been looking elsewhere.’
