Gudjon Thordarson has been given the green light by the club to appoint a goalkeeping coach.

Thordarson has seen his keepers concede seven goals in his first three games as the Alex manager and is moving quickly to plug the leak between the sticks.

As well as seeking a new loan keeper, Gudjon also identified the lack of goalkeeping coach as a problem.

The club has been without a keeper coach for years with previous manager Steve Holland claiming it’s a job the manager can undertake. However, Iceman Gudjon believes keepers need specialised coaching in order to keep them on their toes.

After discussions with the board of directors Thordarson was given the go ahead to add to his backroom staff and he’s moving quick to get the coach on board.

Speaking to CreweAlex.net Thordarson said: ‘I have already spoken to a couple of people and it will depend on who is available for us. I hope we can come to a solution sooner rather than later.

‘The board of directors have been supportive to me over this. They have supported me on everything we are trying to do and that is really positive. It makes a change to work with such a helpful board of directors.’
