Dario Gradi is alerting clubs to Billy Jones’ availability in the hope of agreeing a compensation fee without the need for a tribunal. The 19-year old has rejected Crewe’s offer of a new contract and signalled his intent to leave this summer, though as he is under 23, clubs must either agree a fee with Crewe first or a tribunal will set a compensation fee.

Dario revealed, ‘It’s impossible to quote a figure for Billy so what we hope to do is agree an amount with a club beforehand. That is what I am doing at the moment. I’m talking to various clubs and emphatically telling them he’s good enough to play in the Premiership. I’m hoping that someone will come in and offer us decent compensation for him. But having said that, it is out of my control. It’s more under the control of his agent and his dad at the moment.’
