Jaaskelainen Plays 90 Minutes In International Defeat

|

Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Will Jaaskelainen played the full game for Finland Under-21s yesterday evening against Romania, with his side losing 4-1 at the Stadionul Anghel Iordanescu Stadium in Voluntari.

His appearance is Will’s 5th at this level, all coming this season, but this defeat means that Romania have jumped the Finns into second place in the group (behind Denmark) although they’ve played a game more. The remaining fixtures for the Finns in the group see a trip to Malta in March, homes games against Romania and Ukraine in September, trips to Northern Ireland and Denmark next October and a trip to Romania on this day next year as they look to qualify for the UEFA Under-21 European Championships that takes place in Hungary and Slovenia in the summer of 2021.

He could be available for Saturday’s trip to Northampton Town and will be assessed by the Alex staff upon his return to South Cheshire tomorrow.
