There was all the more reason to get tonight’s game on with Bristol Rovers missing one of the league’s top scorers.

Rickie Lambert has been ruled out through an hip injury and with the former Macc Town striker topping the League’s leading scorers chart with Leicester’s Matt Fryatt… I can’t say I’m too bothered.

Lambert’s replacement, Daryl Duffy, hasn’t played since October and will hopefully offer one of O’Donnell or Baudet a chance of an easy night with Dennis Lawrence sunning it up with Trinidad and Tobago.

Rovers will also be missing winger Jeff Hughes after he slipped on some ice and broke his left hand.

So with the Gas missing a player who has scored 20 of their 45 league goals this season we can go in to tonight’s match with a bit more hope of pulling safety to within three points of us.

I’m getting all excited. It’d be a shame if the players went and let us down now…
