Unlucky winger Michael West has suffered another setback in his fight to establish himself at Crewe Alexandra.

The close-season signing from non-league Ebbsfleet United took a knock to his ankle during the 4-0 defeat for the club’s development squad at Leicester City earlier this week.

He is already doubtful for the weekend meeting with Tranmere Rovers after making the bench for the latest 1-0 home victory against Coventry City. The 21-year-old only recently returned to action since recovering from an Achilles injury.

Meanwhile, Matt Tootle reported no adverse reactions at the Walkers Stadium while on the way back from hip and groin injuries.
