Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that defender Christian Mbulu has signed a short-term deal with the club, that expires at the end of the year, this afternoon and will be available to play in Saturday’s derby game against Port Vale.
Mbulu, 23, has been a free agent since leaving Motherwell in the summer having spent time at Brentwood Town, Millwall and Braintree Town.
Christian will be wearing the number 30 shirt during his spell with the team.
What does this signing mean?
It’s interesting to see why he’s been offered a deal now seeing as he spent most of the summer on trial with the Alex but wasn’t offered a deal then – maybe the injury to Nicky Hunt was a little more serious than we thought and Mbulu was seen as a better option than moving Ng into the middle or using one of the youngsters Sass-Davies or Luke Offord.
One downside to the signing is that he is still relatively inexperienced for his age having only played 84 appearances in his career (with most of them being for the non-league clubs).
