Crewe have taken former Swindon Town goalkeeper Peter Brezovan on trial this week.

Brezovan is set to play in this afternoon’s friendly reserve game against Aston Villa in the hope of earning himself a contract.

The 29 year old played over 60 games for Swindon between 2006 and 2009. Signed by Dennis Wise Brezovan impressed impressed enough to be asked on trial at Everton, although the Liverpool club soon cooled their interest.

A broken arm in 2007 really set back Brezovan’s progression and the Slovak has since failed to find his earlier form. In May of this year Brezovan was released by the Robins having lost the number one shirt to Phil Smith.

Last month Brezovan had a trial at Dagenham and Redbridge but will now try and catch Dario’s eye who will probably be looking for a longer term goalkeeping option, with loanee David Button currently between the sticks.
