Former skipper joins rivals

Former Crewe Alexandra skipper Matt Tootle has joined League Two rivals Notts County on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old full-back made only eighteen starts for Shrewsbury Town last season having arrived on a similar deal from Crewe twelve months ago.

But he failed to earn inclusion for his new club beyond the end of October.

Born in Liverpool, Tootle previously featured over two-hundred times during six years with the Railwaymen, winning both promotion and the Football League Trophy at Wembley.
