Former Crewe Alexandra striker Nick Powell has been included in the England Under-21 squad for the first time.

The eighteen-year-old joined Manchester United in a £6m deal over the summer after netting a superb opener for the Alex in their Wembley play-off final victory against Cheltenham Town in May.

Powell swiftly celebrated his dream big-money move by scoring on his Premiership debut last month against Wigan Athletic.

England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce faces a crucial Euro 2013 play-off double-header against Serbia next week.
