In this column, we’ll look at those former Alex players who have been on the move during the month of August including on Transfer Deadline Day yesterday.
On Thursday 8th, defender Chris Stokes joined Barrow on a deal until January. Chris made 2 appearances in a loan spell during the 2009/10 season.
On Monday 12th, forward Ben Knight left Man City and signed for Real Murcia on a free transfer. Ben made 10 appearances for the Alex during a loan spell in the 2021/22 season.
On the same day, defender Connor O’Riordan left Championship club Blackburn Rovers and joined Cambridge United on a season-long loan. Connor made 58 appearances for the Alex between 2021 and January 2024.
On Saturday 17th, midfielder Josh Austerfield has left Huddersfield Town to join League 2 side Salford City on a free transfer. Josh made 21 appearances for the club in the second half of last season.
On Tuesday 20th, midfielder Charlie Colkett joined National League side Gateshead on an initial 12-month deal with the option of another 12 months. Charlie made 23 appearances for the Alex between 2022 and this summer.
On Thursday 22nd, midfielder Eli King would leave Cardiff City on loan and joined Stevenage on a season-long loan. Eli made 18 appearances for the Alex during a loan in the 2022/23 season.
On Friday 23rd, defender Sam Stubbs would join Cheltenham Town on loan from Bradford City on a season-long loan. Sam made 8 appearances for the Alex in all competitions during a loan spell in the 2017/18 season.
On Wednesday 28th midfielder Ryan Wintle would also leave Cardiff on loan, he would join Millwall on a season-long loan. Ryan made 186 appearances for the Alex in all competitions between 2015 and 2021.
Deadline Day:
Forward Billy Waters left Wrexham on a loan deal and joined FC Halifax Town until January. Billy made 30 appearances for the Alex between 2013 and 2015.
Midfielder Joe White left Newcastle United to join League 2 side MK Dons on a season-long loan. Joe made 25 appearances for the Alex in all competitions in the first half of last season.
