Anthony Grant Joins Swindon On Permanent Deal

|

Swindon Town have announced that they have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Anthony Grant, who was on-loan at the County Ground for the season, from Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee. He has signed a deal until the end of this season.

Grant, 32, started his career at Chelsea before arriving at the Alexandra Stadium in 2013 following spells at Oldham Athletic, Wycombe Wanderers, LutonĀ  Town, Southend United and Stevenage. He scored 5 times in 91 appearances in all competitions for the Alex before moving onto Swindon via spells at Port Vale, Peterborough United and Shrewsbury.

What are they getting from the signing of Grant?

Having played in every single Swindon league game since he signed on Transfer Deadline Day in September, it wasn’t a surprise that he has signed permanently although I would have thought that he’d have signed a deal until the end of next season (although there could be an extension clause in the deal that will see that happen).

As a player, it’ll be interesting to find out whether he’s still covering the ground (and being involved in winning and giving away as many free-kicks as he did during his spell with the Alex) although he is an injury doubt to play us on Saturday.
