Crewe Alexandra assistant manager Neil Baker believes some of his players are sill revelling in the Wembley glory of last May.

Alex overcame Cheltenham Town in their play-off final to secure promotion on a wonderful day for the club. But Baker wants to see that confined to the record books rather than proving a distraction come the start of the new season.

“We have to put Wembley behind us because we do have a few still basking in the glory if you like,” he told the Crewe Chronicle. “Let me assure them that the game at Wembley won’t help them one bit when we are playing Notts County on the opening day of the season.”

Before taking on the Magpies, Crewe host Hartlepool United in the Capital One Cup this weekend.
