Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams will get a chance to shine in the first team before the end of the season.

Manager Dario Gradi, who has seen his side stutter to mid-table safety now believes the time is right to let the youngster have a go.

The Welsh U-21 International is a graduate of the academy and has found himself on the bench for Crewe already this season and Dario believes the youngsters performances merit a League One start:

‘I would like to give Fon Williams a go before the end of the season. I won’t be just chucking the kids in between now and the end of the season but we will look to give one or two of them a go to see how they do.

‘It isn’t until you play them that you quite know how they are going to handle it. I’ve said for a while that I think we have three good goalkeepers, and that there is not much to choose between them.’

Is it a good idea to try out youngsters at the end of the season? Have your say now!
