Owain Fon Williams has rejected a new contract offer and the chance to be number one at the Alex next season. The Wales U-21 ‘keeper now looks set to leave Gresty Road, despite never playing a competitive match in an Alex shirt.

The likes of Derby, Bolton and Blackburn have all been linked with Williams and it now looks like a move has been lined up for him.

Steve Holland says he is disappointed but revealed that Ben Williams, the current number one keeper, could still sign after stalling on his contract offer.

Speaking to superalex.co.uk: ‘It is disappointing, but he is a young man and he is entitled to make his own decisions. That is his call. Both Ben and Owain were offered new contracts and Ben has indicated he hasn’t got anywhere to go yet, so he is still a possibility.’

The Alex are also reported to be close to signing Scottish keeper Greg Fleming from Gretna. The 21 year old is hot property but could join the Alex after holding talks with Holland last week.
