Gretna goalkeeper Greg Fleming has completed his move to Oldham following his snub to the Alex.

The young Scottish keeper looked to be heading to Crewe since the Alex showed interest back in April but despite spending a few days at Reaseheath training ground and being offered the number one shirt at Gresty Road, he snubbed the Alex in favour of League One rivals Oldham.

To make the rejection that little bit more hurtful, he now looks set to play understudy to Oldham’s current number one Mark Crossley.

Oldham confirmed their new signing today, after Steve Holland revealed Fleming would be signing for Oldham last week.

Crewe’s search for a new goalkeeper continues this week. Having seen Ben Williams depart the club on a free and Owain Fon Williams all but certain to follow him, the only keeper currently on the books is Stuart Tomlinson – who may not be fit enough to play till 2009. Despite this, Holland says the search is not ‘desperate’.

I think he’s made the right choice, not sure if he’ll be understudy but he will no doubt learn alot from crossley being goalkeeping coach.
