Stuart Fleetwood has rejected a move to Crewe Alexandra, Forest Green Rovers have confirmed. The 21 year old striker, who has 30 goals so far this season, confirmed his decision with both Forest Green and Crewe Alexandra late on Tuesday night.

Crewe’s bid of £175,000 for Fleetwood had been accepted by Forest Green on Saturday but there always remained a doubt over Fleetwood’s willingness to sign for Crewe. After speaking to the club on Monday afternoon and thinking over the move, Fleetwood decided it wasn’t for him and he wishes to remain in the Blue Square Premier with Forest Green.

Steve Holland will now return to the drawing board after spending 17 days chasing Fleetwood. With Crewe staring relegation very much in the face at the moment, the next week or so will be very interesting indeed for Alex fans. If no signings are made then the future looks very worrying.
